Keeping Your Hip Account Safe

Here at Hip, we strive to keep a secure, safe, and great marketplace for buyers and sellers.  Below are some guidelines on how you can help:

Online Safety:

  • Avoid sharing your contact details, such as phone number or email address, with other Hip members.  We are unable to assist you with interactions that happen outside of Hip.
    • Keeping communication within the Hip Messaging Center ensures there is a record of your discussions.

  • Use PayPal for your payments when possible.  PayPal offers a great Payment Protection Program for both buyers and sellers when something goes wrong.

  • When using Hip's Pre-Approval feature, which allows buyers and sellers to make alternate payment arrangements, avoid sharing out debit or credit card information.

  • Create a strong password and change it regularly.  Long phrases with numbers and special characters are the most secure passwords.  Avoid using the same password across multiple sites.
    • Never share your password with third parties.  Hip support will never ask for your password.

  • The most secure way to access your Hip account is to go directly to the Hip websites to sign in (HipComic.com, HipStamp.com, HipPostcard.com)

  • While Hip sites are for users ages 18 and up, children under age 18 can use the site as long as they are monitored by their legal guardian(s).  Please be sure to check your children's activity and interaction with sellers.

  • Before making a purchase, please be sure to read the full listing, look at all pictures, and check seller feedback.  If you have questions, ask the seller before purchase.

  • Report any questionable items through the "Report Abuse" button.

Financial/Payment Safety:

  • Never give out your payment information or contact information to another user, especially if they are asking for this outside of Hip.

  • For your protection, transactions must take place within the Hip platform.  Hip cannot support transactions that take place outside of Hip sites.

  • Avoid transferring funds or making payments on items "urgently" or for items that seem too good to be true.
  • Routinely check your PayPal account and Hip purchase history. If anything seems off, please contact Hip right away.

  • When you receive an item, be sure to check it thoroughly.  Individual sellers will have different return policies.

  • If you feel you have been the victim of a scam or fraud on Hip, please reach out immediately.
